You Have Constitutional Rights

If an immigration officer knocks on your door, do not open the door. Ask to see the warrant for arrest or inspection of your home. The warrant should show the address, person under arrest or objects under inspection and must be signed by a judge.

You have the right not to answer questions, not even your name. Attorneys Louis Valencia and Deifilia Diaz recommend you remain silent. Do not show your passport or identification.

You have the right to fight against your deportation. If you are the victim of a crime, report it immediately to the police. This victimization helps you to defend yourself against a deportation and you could apply for a U visa.
